The winner who will be revealed in 2013, will follow in the footsteps of veteran MTV Base VJ, Cynthia “C-Von” Okapala, who won the competition in 2007 and subsequently hosted many MTV Base programmes and events.

Speaking on the competition, Cynthia “C-Von” Okpala said “For me, winning the first Nigerian MTV Base VJ Search was the most awesome way of breaking into the TV and entertainment business. Five years ago, winning the search totally changed my life and it’s fantastic that MTV Base is now offering the same opportunity to new kids on the block who want to get their break into the entertainment business.”

Okay, the age cap is just plain ‘ol dumb! I mean, it is only in Nigeria that we must to put age cap on top EVERYTHING – OGINI!?! Are you saying a 26, 27, 30 year old can’t be an excellent fit for the show!!!!! I would think the older, the more experienced, the better… if y’all had set the bracket as 21-30 years, that would make a bit more sense but noooooo, una wan rub the cradle with a search beginning from 18 yr old applicants – mschew!

Banky – you fail my hand o – I would think that based on your history (abi, you didn’t become such a star until you passed 25!?!) you would push against such useless rules.

Prospective Nigerian employers, BIKO, STOP PUTTING AGE CAPS ON EVERYTHING!!!!!!

@Duchess, i wonder why ure taking stuff out on banky or on the whole og nigeria as a whole
    Banky isnt MTV
    MTV is based in Nigeria
Age caps are fine in certain jobs like this one where traveling and odd hours are very common., Especially in the African context where from 25, marriage n family start taking over

Btw, 18 is the legal age in Nigeria so it’s not robbing the cradle. Most folk in entertainment start young, even Banky knows that Wizkid stood a better chance than him (largely to do with age) so he signed him.
We don’t want older folk as VJs, like the movie industry where Genny, Emeka Ike n Tonto still play SS3 students. 18 is a perfect starting point, dunno about 21. 25 may be too young as a cap but it is clearly not bad as its still a 8yr bracket. You clearly need a fresher approach to this matter!
