The Online Master Class 2013 is part of the pre-awards activities for The Future Awards, Season 8 and would be held in partnership with Information Nigeria, an online company whose mission is to empower Nigerians to make positive changes in their community. The class is aimed at young people who want to run online media businesses in Nigeria and are looking for practical steps and guidelines towards achieving that. The event would be a full day of interactive sessions that would feature the facilitators sharing knowledge and information about running a media business in Nigeria – emphasizing the opportunities, challenges, and strategies, especially in the peculiar Nigerian environment.
According to Chude Jideonwo, the executive director of The Future Project, “The online media has become a major source of information for many Nigerians and the first edition which had many participants has over the last few years become a force to reckon with.
Successful online businesses like BellaNaija, YNaija, LindaIkeji, Information Nigeria and others, have shown young people the power of this new media. Young people who seek to tap into this media to build careers to influence conversations, inform, and entertain can now acquire the needed skills to build a reputable – and most importantly, profitable – new media brand” . He also said “there would be no application fee this year as we; The Future Project and Information Nigeria want to ensure that those who are zealous about this are those who attend“
