MTV Base to Premiere “Shuga” Radio Drama Series on Saturday

Get ready for more Shuga action!

BN Movies & TV can confirm that MTV Base and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation are once again collaborating to bring the hit series – Shuga to the radio.

Tagged “ShugaRadioNaija“, it will feature new characters, and plot lines just like the TV show.

Set in a fictional rural location of “Chikota”, Nigeria, the show will use Shuga’s edutainment philosophy to tell the interlinked stories of a group of young students, their friends and families, as they try to figure out life, love, sex, and emotions against a background of conflicting advice and prejudice.

There will be 8 12-minute episodes that will address a wide range of thought provoking topics including HIV counselling and testing, discussing condom use in relationships, gender inequality, abuse, transactional sex, and the role of multiple concurrent partnerships in driving the HIV epidemic.

The Cast
Wazobia FM OAP Lolo 1 plays straight-laced biology teacher Mrs Balogun
Lilian Byoma plays the role of Roli, an outspoken pupil and a bit of a know-it-all when it comes to sex.
Theresa Edem plays the role of student Patricia who joins a safe sex club to the disappointment of her admirer Soji Frankincense Eche-Ben plays Theresa’s admirer Soji
Ekong Edet plays the part of Chuks, a sexually confident student
Bayray McNwizu  plays school nurse, Nurse Ekaette

The show will air weekly on UNILAG FM from Saturday 14th June at 8 PM and on City 105.1 FM from Tuesday 17th June 2014 by 7:45 PM. It will also be available online –
