Joseph Yobo writes “Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who is the Fittest of Them All?”

Joseph_Yobo_Goodluck_JonathanYou may have seen Joseph Yobo on the campaign trail with President Goodluck Jonathan. Just a few hours ago, his PR reps sent this article to news outlets including BellaNaija.

Read;

For the sake of clarity, I must first point out that while all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, it is all work and no exercise that makes him an unfit one. From all indications earlier in the week, Friday 7th March, 2015 was meant to be a busy day for members and supporters of both the ruling People’s Democratic Party and the opposition All Progressives’ Congress.

In Abuja, there was a scheduled fitness march to keep the blood of Nigerian sports people along with party hierarchy and President Goodluck Jonathan, buzzing. An equivalent march in Lagos, billed initially to be a million-man march of opposition members was to hold in Lagos from Maryland to Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.
As early as 8am, I and several other supporters of the President walked with him from Aso Rock to Eagle Square where we also jogged around. Some of the pictures from the walk have been swarming social media; one in particular stood out. It was that of President Jonathan doing the hop in an aerobics session. Pictures of him working out in the gym have surfaced from time to time and this further proved that the man is mentally and physically fit to rule Nigeria. Immediately after the rally ended at 11am, he went back to the State House, freshened up and flew to pay courtesy visits to the Ooni of Ife and Owa Obokun of Ijesaland and attend rallies in their domain.

Enter General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd). After he and his party played hide-and-seek with Nigerians over his whereabouts, the man returned to the country and was conspicuously missing from a march that was the perfect opportunity for him and the top party brass to reassure their supporters that he was fit as a fiddle. The job of president of a country with over 170 million people is a a tasking one and surely it would have been convenient for a man who insists he was on a two-week rest to have at least walked with the people who will vote him for say one-thirds of the march? The party chieftains including Bola Tinubu and even its vice-presidential candidate, Prof. Yomi Osinbajo were present at the final stop, so why was the arrowhead of the campaign missing in action?

Why is the opposition shoving in our youthful faces, a grandfather who needs rest, an elder statesman who ought to be chilling in his country home in times like this? Assuming their candidate wins the presidential elections, will he disappear periodically too?

Nigerians must take a stand and decide to do what is right. Seeing is believing; we cannot saddle ourselves with a President whose health challenges will affect his output in office. General Buhari was once a gallant soldier but no one can cheat nature.

jona kicksI, who by the grace of God and the support of sports loving President Jonathan led the Super Eagles to historic victory in the Africa Cup of Nations after a trophy less 19 years and having played football at the highest levels can boldly affirm that the secret to the game is in endurance, and the events of recent times point us to the fact that Nigeria needs just the man who stood and can last. The Game is on.

Joseph Yobo, was Captain of Nigeria’s Super Eagles and 2014 AFCON Winner

I wonder why everyone is suddenly concerned about Buhari’s health. Well if anything happens while he is in office, the vice president will become the president. Just like when GEJ became the president.

Why wasn’t GEJ this concerned for Yaradua?

That is the very reason we are where we are-misplacement of priorities. This is how you know a president that can deliver and he hasn’t done that in 6years that he’s been there.

You’re an idiot and you deserve no respect from any rightful thinking Nigerian, I’m talking about you useless Yobo.

What does this have to do with the price of tea in China? Mandela was 76 when he became president. not only was he well involved in SA sports….he was SA’s greatest leader in office.

Hey Prince or what do you call yourself? No one, I mean nobody knows you, no one cares about you and here you are big-mouthing about a Joseph Yobo who had contributed immensely to the development of this country doing what he definitely knows how to do best. This is politics my dear, and last time I did check, freedom of association still remains a part of our rights in this country so please allow it and keep your mouth shut if you have nothing tangible to bring to the table this time.

Shush…your mouth there….John! The likes of you and Yobo symbolizes all that is wrong with Nigeria. Trying to force a BAD product down our throats. I understand that the hustle is beyond real but it doesn’t mean that dignity should be thrown out the door. I dey shame for una!

Since he abandoned his day job, he’s now a sycophant. It’s not too late to go back to his day job.

Luton town (in Football League 2, the 4th tier of English football) is in the market for a defender. They will pay him some pounds…Go on Joseph, speak to their Manager, John Still.

Jay Jay and Kanu won’t run their mouths purposelessly like this one.

“So why was the arrowhead missing in action?” Well, that was because he visited Shehu Shagari in Sokoto.
But really can all these weird accusations just stop? From Buhari being a religious cum tribal bigot to Him not having a certificate/having F9 in maths, now they are after his health only God knows what next they will come up with. Maybe Buhari has a child with a side chick.
Yobo we get your passion for fitness but we aren’t looking for a coach.

Mandela was president at 76 no doubt, but Mandela wasn’t hiding away in a London Hospital for 15 days after one month campaign? FAT NO.
Mandela was at the forefront during his overwhelming endorsement(called campaigns) in various Province of South Africa.

No one sold Madiba to South Africans they voted him overwhelmingly and that is not so for Buhari

Mandela was loved across South Africa for his sacrifices, while no selflessness is attributable to Buhari

Was Madiba sponsored by any South African ex governor? Hell NO

Mandela was not sponsored by group of rouges. He was not associated nor promoted by questionable character.

Was Mandela speaking for 56 seconds during political rallies? No

Was Madiba deputy chosen for him? No

    Here in Nigeria
Do Ibos appreciate Buhari for his selflessness NO-
Do Yorubas appreciate Buhari for any selflessness nor for any sacrifices? No.
Tell me where else Buhari is loved apart from his core fellows????his kinsmen and women

Has Buhari ever spoken peace? has he ever forgiven any one before? No

Tell me where, how, when, what Buhari has done for Nigeria sacrificially.

Please go ahead an criticize Yobo for supporting Jonathan as synonymous with your bitter-selves,call him own goal scorer no problem. I will celebrate Yobo for the times he did well and wish him well when otherwise .Some Great players pulled their countries out of tournament and they where not killed.
If Yobo supported APC his sins will be washed away. Hypocrites!!!

Why do we not have the right to ask about Buharis whereabout?

Yes you need a fit leader, among other requirements

You better go to Turkey and stay with your pregnant wife and son, and quit saying gibberish. Today you’re at Omotola’s dinner, tomorrow you’re with GEJ, when you have a pregnant wife. Anyway, you literally have no football career anymore, that’s why you have time for shenanigans.

Celebrities have the right to campaign and vote for whomever they please. However, of all the reasons they’ve expressed their support for a candidate, I have never read a more flimsy, kiss-up and so not necessary attempt to campaign for someone in my life! Yobo, I always knew you weren’t the sharpest tool in the shed and unfortunately, this write up proved me right. You see Rita Dominic and other celebs shooting campaign videos and Charles Novia writing big English: does that mean it is by force to write too even when you have nothing to say? Mtcheeew!! “Me too I go talk some” syndrome. My friend, never in your write up did you mention any notable thing GEJ has done for Naija. Not that Buhari is any better, but if GEJ looks like Buhari at 73, won’t he be grateful? 50 something and see his pot belly! You go on and on about fitness: what makes you think Nigerians are looking for fitness? Na fitness we go chop? Abeg, go to Turkey and buy Louboutins for your wife if you have nothing sensible to say.

Jona of Otueke, with all this tax payers’ money you’re sharing. Diaris god o! Sycophant Yobo, the least you can have is dignity and respect for the nation that made you. You have only one vote, go out on election day and use it wisely. You and your bigoted paid cohorts should stop sending useless articles to us, in order to influence our opinions. Have some dignity and self respect, boy.

Why is Yobo and co shoving in our faces, this clueless, mindless president?

A president that thinks stealing is not corruption.
A president that’s using our tax to fund his personal political rallies and campaigns.

A president that’s not in tune with the realities of the nation he is elected to serve. A nationally elected president that chooses to be a regional president.
A president and Grand Commander of the Federal Republic under whose watch we jointly entrusted our safety and security that has let our nation go from bad to worse.

Joseph Yobo, take your time o and stop being a bigot.
