According to reports from TMZ, Mary J. Blige‘s estranged husband/ex-manager, Martin “Kendu” Isaacs, has filed a response to Mary’s divorce petition and one of the things he wants his spousal support, another is for MJB to pay his legal fees.

It is unclear if they have a prenup but MJB is doing her best to block him from having access to her money.

Mary J. Blige and Kendu officially separated in July after 12 years of marriage.

In a statement released in August through her rep, she said “Ms. Blige is saddened to say [that] it is true that she has filed for divorce, saying sometimes things don’t work how we hoped they would… but, there is a divine plan and a reason for everything. Mary will continue writing and working on her album, which is due out later this year along with her world tour. She thanks and appreciates her fans for their support and love through this very difficult emotional time.”

Well to be fair that’s part of equality although personally I don’t understand able bodied women or men wanting spousal support except they both decided on the wife or husband not working during the marriage . Hope she has a prenup otherwise it’s on her. Anyone getting married these days with substantial money and doesn’t get a prenup is a mumu. Golddiggers always try that none sense of are you already planing for a divorce but if you are not also thinking of a divorce what’s the big deal in signing a prenup since we won’t need it Abi? However it one party asked the other to stop working then the person should be compensated and I think what was made during the marriage should be shared but not was made before. Best to iron these things out before marriage and have an iron clad contract . Just like writing a will , it may not be pleasant but it’s necessary .

Oh pls…what shame? He was her manager and that would be a paying job at least so he isn’t entirely jobless.

With boss power (as a rich singer that she is) comes boss responsibilities (like paying spousal support). If it was a woman asking, no one would say a thing o.

    Well…goose and gander.
Pay up ma’am. Who are we to say he didn’t make sacrifices? I just hope she enjoyed her role as the provider in the marriage and wasn’t doing all that subservient shit…cos e go pain me pass if I let you take the traditional husband role on my dime but you now choose to go all modern on me during the divorce.

I think people should start signing pre-ups in Nigeria to avoid wahala. God forbid a man/woman who is the provider in the home gets cheated on and is asked to pay spousal support

But then, desperate gold-diggers may resort to killing their financially well-off spouse. God help us all
