How the Losers of Globalisation Are Fighting Back – Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala | WATCH

Nigeria’s former finance minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, speaking at a forum organised by Fortune and TIME, said that while globalisation brought so many benefits for the African continent, the losers in the “globalisation game” are fighting back.

She said that though the exportation of primary products have lifted a lot of people out of poverty, there is little structural change in African economies to transform these raw materials to finished products.

She added that the few companies that strive to transform these materials are weakened because finished products are imported to the continent and sell lesser than the amount a local manufacturing company sells.

But she was Minister of Finance (in charge of economic development) in two administrations in Nigeria.
Twice! and she did not transform?

I watched this. She made so much sense. Transformation was hard when you have other actors like China playing in the same game.
