Hollywood Director Ava Duvernay is queening on the Cover of Essence Magaine’s March 2017 Issue

For Essence magazine’s March issue, they focused on Ava DuVernay.

For the cover story, Ava DuVernay chats about everything from her Oscar-nominated documentary 13th to diversity and Array, her independent distribution company that spotlights little-known films from women and people of color. DuVernay takes an inclusive approach to film, an approach that’s all her own.

She says “I don’t have to approach film like a man would, or like anybody else I read about, because it’s personal. So there’s no right way or wrong way. Directors talk about their process but that doesn’t have to be my process.”
