BN Red Carpet Fab: MNet Studio 53 Extra Launch Event
You know us on BellaNaija.com – We love the glitz and glam of the red carpet! In Lagos, red carpets (though black, green and yellow carpets are taking over as well) are rolled out for almost every event! Can’t blame them, Nigerians love to party like stars.
The launch of MNet’s brand new showbiz news show, MNet Studio 53 Extra took place last night at Rehab Pool Lounge & Bar in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event got off to a late start due the heavy downpour of rain yesterday but that didn’t dampen the glitz!
There were loads of stars and socialistas at the Studio 53 Extra launch and considering that the event was held on a workday (Thursday), we give everyone extra points for looking fabulous!

There were two belles of the ball at the event and they were the presenters of the show, Eku & Dolapo. Eku Edewor was dressed in a draped sunshine yellow dress by Bridget Awosika. She accessorized with a bold gold and jeweled statement necklace, red stacked platform heels and an interesting ash & yellow bag. Her cheeky red pout pulled the look together. We like.
Dolapo Oni rocked a sleek Lanre DaSilva-Ajayi floral and blue dress. We love the foldover layered detail of the skirt. She could have chosen a predictable choice of accessories due to the boldness of the dress but we love that she went against the grain with a red clutch, bronze heels and jewellery.
Omawumi is one of our red carpet faves because she always has fun with her looks. For the Studio 53 Extra event, the powerhouse crooner rocked a layered green and brown lace dress. Her brown accessories completed the look. We are used to seeing Omawumi with her signature curly mane, however, we are loving this sleek bob.
Latifah Adams blew us out of the water with this one. Well styled and sophisticated. With her hair styled in girly waves, Latifah paired her popping sequin embellished yellow top with dark wash skinny jeans, purple platforms and an olive green bag. We totally love how all the colours come together.
This was another of our faves! Makashe Ibru looking great in her structured ankara dress paired with a multistrand pearl and gold necklace, nude pumps and a red LV epileather alma.
This look is becoming a bit of a signature look for Tinsel and Ex-Big Brother Nigeria star, Gideon Okeke. He rocked black thick-framed glasses with a blue shirt paired with grey trousers and accessorized with suspenders and a bold bow-tie.
Designer, Bridget Awosika was simple and fabulous in her black long-sleeved dress with a braided black belt. She accessorized with teal t-strap pumps and a bejeweled clutch.
We have a feeling we’ll be seeing more of Adaure Achumba on the red carpet but we are not complaining. She looked great in her green and bronze dress with jewel detailing.
Image consultant, Veronica Ebie-Odeka kept her look monochrome for the most part. In a white tank paired with a black cropped jacket, skinny jeans and black stacked platforms. We love the Zebra clutch.
Wedding planner, Vanessa Nwokoye and her furniture designer beau, Saheed Sulaiman were stylish and sophisticated on the black carpet. His pinstripe suit paired with a white shirt was sharp while we are totally feeling her raven fringed bob and black military inspired satin edged jacket.
Phunk Afrique designer, Funke Ogunde let the statement piece in her outfit shine! Her purple and black jacket with its volumized sleeves and jewel button totally rocks. She paired it with black skinny jeans, black bandage platforms and an LV speedy.
ChiDynma went totally rock chick for this event. Purple tank paired with a black and white skirt and accessorized with layered necklaces. Her strapy black cut-out booties and signature curly faux-hawk complete the rockette look.
Hot (matching) couple alert! Tinsel’s Gbenro Ajibade walked the black carpet with his girlfriend, Kalane. They both stuck to a grey and black palette. Cute looks for both.
You may recognize her as the female lead from Bez’s new video, “More You” (Click for pics), model Chantelle tried something different for the Lagos scene. She was dressed in denim short shorts paired with a buttoned up lumberjack shirt, ballet pumps and a black bag. We love her cornrows and how the outfit works for her!
Beth Models CEO, Elohor Aisien was pretty in a floaty floral one armed dress. She accessorized the dress with bright acquamarine Louboutins and a navy blue clutch.
Accessories designer, Hauwa Mukan went for all black with a pop of colour for her Studio 53 Extra look. Hauwa rocked a black shift dress with shiny black details. She paired the dress with opaque black tights, black shoes and a bright clutch from her line.
PR Consultant, Bukky George-Taylor looks great! Her structured midnight blue dress was paired with a tan bag and black and gold t-strap heels. Best part of the look? Beautiful smile.

Lanre DaSilva-Ajayi looked gorgeous in a purple floral motif dress from her new collection. She accessorized with a large purse and two-toned purple shoes. Folake Ogunlesi exemplified mid-week chic in an emerald green top with peaked shoulders paired with black trousers and a structured coffee brown bag.
Soulful musician, Bez was simple and well put together in his black blazer paired with a crisp white shirt and black shoes. His signature ‘geek glasses’ completed the look.
Makeup artist and entrepreneur, Lola Maja looked beautiful and cheery in her polka dot dress paired with black sandals and a retro butterfly belt.
MNet Africa MD, Biola Alabi posed with the Studio 53 Extra girls. Biola was dressed in a black satin dress with a gorgeous laced sleeve. She accessorized with black shoes. Multichoice MD, Joseph Hundah was smart casual in a pinestriped suit paired with a white shirt.
