Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o attended the 2015 Academy Awards yesterday at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. And even though most people loved her red carpet presence, her beauty look met a lot of mixed reviews. (judging from our Instagram page – @BellaNaijaOnline).
So if you loved it, you are in luck because we have all the details! And if you didn’t, here’s another chance to weigh in.
Lupita’s Oscars look was a timeless one complete with a stunning white pearl dress by Calvin Klein, and makeup by Nick Barose of Lancôme (You know, being a Lancôme Ambassador has it perks).
Makeup – 20s Glamour
According to Lancôme, the inspiration for her makeup was 20s glamour. Nick Barose gave Lupita a metallic silver smokey eye paired with a romantic Aubergine lip that was subtle enough to pair beautifully with her pearl-embellished dress.
For Lupita’s glowing skin, Nick used the Lancôme Cushion Liquid Cushion Compact in 500 with the Le Corrector Pro Concealer Kit in 550. He gave her cheeks some love with the Blush Subtil Shimmer in Petite Pomegranate and added contour and highlight with Le Duo Stick in Suede.
Lupita’s eyes were shimmering like the star she is thanks to the Aquatique Waterproof Eyecolour Base in Sienne #5, the Artliner in Noir, Le Stylo Waterproof Eyeliner in Noir, Colour Design 5-Pan Eyeshadow Pallete in Gris Fumee and the Grandiôse Mascara.
Her lip had a romantic bloom with a blend of the Le Lipstique Lip Coloring Stick in Sheer Chocolate and L’Absolu Rouge Lipcolor in Aubergine Velvet.
Hair – A Small Afro
Now for what the naturalistas have been waiting for. Lupita’s hair was created by Smooth ‘N Shine celebrity hairstylist Larry Sims.
According to Hollywood Life, he first “dampened her hair with a warm towel to soften the texture”, then he “applied Smooth ‘N Shine Smooth Olive & Tea Tree RevivOil Wrap & Set Mousse paired with Smooth ‘N Shine Argan Power 10 Styling Gel to create tiny ringlets with a small ‘rat tail’ comb throughout the whole head, starting at the nape of neck and moving to the front.”
Next he used a hooded dryer on her hair for 30 minutes and waited for her hair to be completely dry. Then he went over it with a large tooth comb and lifted the ringlets to add volume and break down the texture. Larry finished off her hair with the Smooth ‘N ShineInstant Repair Spray-On Polisher for added shine and to smoother out fly-aways and frizz.
We can’t not give her nails some love too. With tips to match her stunning dress, Lupita’s nails were covered with a milk nail polish to complete her look.
So BellaNaijarians, are you on board with her beauty look?
