Kwaaaaa oh my word look at the uniform of the Nigeria policemen, it looks so cheap… backward… I mean really now why can’t they invest on the proper uniform… even the security guard have a better uniform…………MMMMM richest country in Africa Really now…

Where are you from? Also, does your comment have anything to do with the post?

Anyhoo, my question is where do LASTMA and VIO fit into this? I imagine FRSC should only function on federal roads, but I’m not too sure. Any clarification from more knowledgeable folks would be appreciated. Great idea for IGR.

@Confuzzled, where kwaaaaa is from? I don’t know but the Nigeria-hating made me think of a certain country, also, that country was the one toppled in the last year from the position of “richest country in Africa” by Nigeria (so it would make sense why that hurts, the pain is still very fresh). Then, I just happened to Google Kwaaaaa just now, and guess what I found? “kwaaa: It’s an expression of laughter which originates from South African Youth cultures.”

      Like I said, I don’t know where @kwaaaa is from. 🙂

@kwaaaaa: You would save yourself so much embarrassment and humiliation, your crass ignorance and insecure attention-seeking inferiority complexes would be so much better disguised, if only you would perform even the most minor checks, and actually get informed, before making silly pronouncements whereby you only exhibit ‘foot-in-mouth’ disease. The uniformed men pictured are not Nigerian policemen. They are highway and motor vehicle safety officials, just to break it down for you.

To God be the glory, we are the richest country in Africa, YES, and not only in money and things money can buy; and we are confident, intelligent, and blessed enough to welcome criticism, when it is constructive, informed, accurate, fair, mutually respectful and without negative agenda..

      Stop hating.

Or, actually, please, keep hating. It only provokes God to bless and promote us more and more.

Kwaaaaa…google is your friend, be informed, don’t just make statements without verifying, it makes you look like your are following the bandwagon and not actually getting facts right…

Look at this capital MUMU. Those ain’t our policemen. Hater oshi!
BTW, what happens when you get caught by our policemen violating a traffic light/sign? Can we ask them to write us a ticket to be paid to FRSC?

The fine/penalty for DUI is not high enough

    • Mz Socially Awkward...

      July 27, 2015 at 4:44 pm

That’s exactly what I was confused by. Failure to report a road accident will fetch you 10 points and a N20,000 fine but DUI offences are only worth 5 points and N5,000? Is that because they’re sure of more than enough drunk/high people caught behind the wheel (tanker drivers, I’m looking at you as I type this) to multiply that N5,000 a hundred thousand times over each week??

Otherwise, it makes no damn sense.

My own worry is that DUI fine is listed right under ‘Dangerous driving’ fine, except that DUI is 45k less…… is DUI not dangerous driving….wharahelll????

    • Pffft

      July 29, 2015 at 12:22 pm

my thoughts exactly… dangerous driving is vague… DUI falls under dangerous driving and yet the fine is so tine.. 5k for what now?

Dangerous driving 50k???? Opportunity to extort people

so what is the penalty for policemen & women that offend the law??? I mean roadblocks are now illegal but our dear naija police keeps breaking the law and they are a safety hazard to motorists.

DRIVING UNDER ALCOHOL OR DRUG INFLUENCE – N5000???? are they silly or wat??? a lot accidents are due to DUI/DUA and the fine is a mere N5k. na wah!!! shouldn’t the license be seized and the person made to pay dearly for endangering the lives of citizens????

DRIVING A COMMERCIAL WITHOUT PASSENGER MANIFEST – ewooo, danfo bus from Lagos to Ibadan will now have a passenger manifest??? let me laugh in Chinese….LOL!!!! Naija doesn’t have the infrastructure for such laws yet.

these fines are a joke biko….if you really want to enforce laws, make the fines times 5 of whats currently published and they should put better thought into the offences & their punishments.

    SMH!!!!

      July 27, 2015 at 8:12 pm

Actually, danfo from Lagos to Ibadan DO have manifest. Especially the ones that take off from the garage. It’s the one chance ones that don’t have.

Driving one way?-50,000 (crase dey worry u)
Blocking the road because you’re buying fuel-20,000 (na only you come lagos)
Overtaking at the roundabout-5,000 (you must be a learner)
Using your horn to play “dance akpako-5,000 (are you a mavin member)

On a serious note though, it is actually cheaper to pay the fine than bribe the official. But what do I know, I’m just an ordinary citizen.

    July 27, 2015 at 9:18 pm

More importantly don’t bribe no matter what. Pay the correct fine,

    July 28, 2015 at 6:13 am

Hehehe. The process of paying d fine is d annoying part o not d fine itself. The waka na wa. Pick teller from FRSC office to bank n back. The queue for UBA n firstbank must tell u what’s up. However, DUI fine must be increased ooooo.
