Buhari announces Intention to Run for President in 2019

Buhari announces Intention to Run for President in 2019 - BellaNaijaPresident Muhammadu Buhari has announced his intention to run for president in the 2019 elections.

Buhari made this known to the All Progressives Congress National Executive Council, Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai announced on his Twitter.

El-Rufai wrote:

BREAKING NEWS: PMB has just announced to APC NEC his intention to run for a second term of office. Alhamdulillah. – Nasir El-Rufai.

Both the president’s official Twitter @NGRPresident, and the Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, confirmed the news, writing:

President has just announced his intention to seek the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and contest for a second term of Office in the 2019 elections.

BREAKING: President Muhammadu Buhari has just officially announced his intention to seek re-election in 2019. Details soon…

It’s official #PMBForNigeria 2019

Whether or not the president should run for a second term of office has been often debated by the populace.

Supporters of the president have urged him to run, including the Kano State Governor Umar Ganduje, who said he’d sue the president if he decides not to run.

Others, like former leaders Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida, have however described Buhari’s first term as a failure, asked that he step down graciously, and allow the ushering in of a new administration.

Anti-buhari people and internet commentators can say or type what they want but my question is, where is a credible opposition or alternative? Searching for one and I see nada.

    He’s a sitting president, it’s allowed.

Also, social media isn’t Nigeria oh. Buhari has goodwill among Nigerians, particularly among the lower-class folks. Middle class making noise is suspect because (to be honest), they benefit the most from the corruption.

    Here’s to a semi-bloodless election

Buhari has goodwill among lower-class folks in Nigeria?
I don’t believe that, except you referring solely to Northern Nigeria…

Then you must be out of touch with reality or you don’t live among the lower class at all.
You can’t even say Sai Buhari where Hausa meat sellers, orange sellers, fruits, salad etc are else, you’ll be stoned not to talk of other tribes.

It is selfishness to run once again and I can see that all those who want him there are true unpatriotic Nigerians but only loyal to their pockets.

Last elections I was nonchalant, this year I’m not doing that anymore after watching the horrors inflicted on me and my loved ones by the policies and actions of the PDP and APC at the federal and state level. I have taken the first step by registering for my voters card 3 weeks ago, I urge everyone to put their money where their mouth is and not just engage in twitter wars! Vote! Pick A Candidate!

We shall come back here in 2019 to remind you when he gets re-elected. It’s just 10 months away.

The sad thing about this declaration is that there are no credible alternatives. Is it Atiku? Dakwambo? or Donald Duke (who didn’t have any landmark achievement as a governor in cross river state for 8 years) ? or Fela Durotoye who isn’t tested tried and trusted. The only thing Duke achieved was a white elephant Tinapa project which is nowhere to be found as at today. When it comes to pedigree and integrity, the truly qualified candidates don’t have the finances and followership to run for office and win.. Nigeria is a place where mediocrity thrives. We vote for silly reasons. Nigerians voted for GEJ in 2011 simply because of his humility and the assumption that he was born lucky. He turned out to be a looting disaster. Nigerian youths voted for Efe of BBN because he is “humble”. Not much has been heard of Efe since then. Nigerians voted for Buhari because he was considered poor, humble and upright. The same Buhari has refused to have press conference or media chat with Nigerians since he was elected. He is too big to talk to us or address us on the state of the nation, despite the fact that we are his employers. I won’t be surprised if we decide to vote for Donald Duke simply because he is handsome. This is how myopic most Nigerians are. The percentage of Nigerians smart enough to make informed decision on the choice of leaders without tribal , religious and ethnic sentiments is very low. This is the reason why PMB might win again. Most of the young keyboard warriors on social media are not members of political parties. They don’t participate in politics. They hide in their basements like e-rats and hope to enforce change through their keyboards. It doesn’t work like that. Trudeau is a member of a political party. Emmanuel Macron is a member as well. If you refuse to participate in politics then don’t complain when you are governed by idiots.
