For over 5 years, African acclaimed fashion designer Lanre DaSilva-Ajayi has been thrilling fashion fans with her Victorian and Edwardian era influenced pieces.
Now the award-winning designer “battles” it out with Nigeria’s music diva Tiwa Savage for this edition of BN Pick Your Fave. The piece in focus is a lace jacket with side peplum details from LDA’s “Labour of Love” collection which debuted at the ARISE Made in Africa – Spring 2012 show in New York. The lace jacket also popped up in LDA’s special lookbook for Vlisco’s Delicate Shades collection.
Both ladies looked fab but you’ve got to Pick Your Fave!
Lanre Da Silva-Ajayi gave the lace jacket its red carpet debut at the 2011 Miss Nigeria finale show held at Eko Hotel & Suites on Friday 18th November 2011. Simplicity was the order of the day as Lanre accessorised her outfit with diamond drop earrings paired with a ruby and emerald bracelet. She brought in more ankara elements with a Vlisco clutch and completed her look with her elegant updo and signature ruby lipstick.
So who dares go head to head with the designer? Well on Thursday 29th December 2011, Love Me, Love Me, Love songstress Tiwa Savage did at the just held Trace Hush Party. Tiwa chose to wear this outfit in a different way by getting rid of the Ankara skirt and replacing it with a black trousers. Tiwa gave her outfit an almost “business casual” look with simple accessories and shoulder length wavy locks.
