Audu Maikori Reportedly Diagnosed with Respiratory Infection in Detention

President of Chocolate City Group, Audu Maikori was transported to a police medical facility Friday night, The Signal reports.

Audu who was arrested for the second time on Friday over alleged incitement to violence, was said to have been diagnosed with respiratory infection while in detention.

Recall that Audu fainted during the 2017 Annual Conference of Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) last Tuesday at Shell Hall, Muson centre, Lagos. He was rushed to St. Nicholas Hospital where he was discharged two days later.

Speaking to Premium Times on Sunday, Kaduna Police spokesperson Aliyu Usman said: “We’re not aware of his arrest.”

While the police has denied involvement in his arrest, a source told Premium Times that “Other government agencies, like the SSS, might have arrested him and placed him in a police cell.”

Audu’s lawyer Mark Jacobs had said that the Kaduna State government is preparing to arraign him today (Monday).

Audu was initially arrested over a story he published late January on the killing of five students of College of Education, Gidan-Waya, Kaduna. It turned out the story was false and he later published a retraction and issued an apology.

He was subsequently arrested on February 17 and was released on bail 24 hours later.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai had, during the just concluded Social Media Week, said that Audu will be prosecuted for spreading false stories capable of inciting retaliatory attacks in the ongoing crisis in Southern Kaduna.

…And this is why Tuface backed out of the protest. Look what happens when ordinary Nigerians try to stand up for justice.

I really hope this hopes well cos the signs aren’t just good

And the man that sued Buhari for not having a WAEC certificate what happened to him and where is he?
When men bury deceive their souls and become selective in their recognition of pure evil, you get here. A tree cannot produce both sweet and sour fruits, no. Nigeria chose and got what they chose.

Is this where we are heading? The government will have blood on their hands if care is not taken. Amnesty International/ Human Rights Watch need to get involved at this stage

Have you guys heard the overwhelming silence from some “twitter overlords” over the continued detention of Audu?… Some of these overloads are close to Audu but they rather stay quiet because El- Rufai is largely involved in this matter. We chose to voice out when we are affected by issues in this part of the world not when a wrong is being done. #FreeAudu. He can’t jump bail.

Audu should appeal is case with El-Rufai. All these hashtags is not going to achieve anything! If he could have his own driver arrested for giving him false information, definitely the government can have him arrested for it’s dissemination. He is a lawyer that should have known better. All these elitists rant ain’t going to do him Sheesh!

My hope in Nigeria will be dashed if anything happens to Audu. i cant believe this…. No one is doing anything, Where are the activists? the leaders we elected to protect us are the enemies attacking us. This man must not be hurt, if he dies, El Rufai shall be responsible for it. #freeAudu

It seems Audu might be involved in more things than we know, that’s the only logical reason why this can be happening to him….but then again we are in Nigeria were logic is not always the order of the day ..well lets wait and hear from the courts before we start another useless hashtag rant

Whatever he may have said that was ‘inciteful’ was heard by very few people. You, Mr. El-Rufai made it a thing and called our attention to it. We were not and are not incited. Except angry over your mess.
