LatashaLagos Hosts International Women’s Day Luncheon in Abuja

With a theme of ‘Invest in Women- Accelerate Progress’, veteran lifestyle journalist Latasha Ngwube hosted a luncheon in the capital city of Abuja. The event which was held at the historic Luigi’s restaurant of Abuja Continental Hotel, drew a variety of women across different sectors in celebration of the progress gained in gender matters.

The dress code was a touch of purple that dates back to 1908, symbolizing women’s equality, and denoting justice and dignity. To date, it is used to represent women and worn annually, especially around the women’s month of March. There was a powerful spoken word rendition by She Joye and a HeforShe musical performance by past Nigerian idols winner Moses Obi.

Latasha challenged the attendees to rise, because in her words, “When we invest in women, we’re not just funding projects; we’re kickstarting a revolution of progress that’s bound to go viral in a future where innovation knows no bounds.”

One of the major highlights of the afternoon was fireside chats between Latasha and curated female entrepreneurs like Keke Bongos of Kayganics and Iyabo Oniko of Wuraz Accessories. Other highlighted proudly “Made in Nigeria” brand owners were Loom Chocolate’s Uzoamaka Igweike, Krave Boutik’s Nene Okike, Olaedo Naturals’ Chidera Ogbu and ZohiTaglit’s Samantha Hossany.

The event was compered by Chika MommyMovesandMagic Chukwu who skillfully brought games and laughter to the event and led the impromptu backup singing. The hotel’s Group General Manager Karl Hala also said a few words at the event as it wound down to a close, regaling the ladies while doing so.

Notably present were broadcast journalists Maupe Ogun and Nancy Iloh Nnaji as well SA to the President on Strategic Comms Linda Akhigbe. Cast mates of the hit Reality TV show Real Housewives of Abuja Comfort Booth, Arafa Ukonga were also in attendance as well as Oj Posharella who performed her new single Power Woman.
