Ghanaian heartthrob Chris Attoh & Nigerian starlet Damilola Adegbite star in Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s ’6 Hours to Christmas’

The release of Ghanaian Director, Shirley Frimpong-Manso‘s movies always inspires major excitement amongst African movie lovers. Over the years, Shirley via Sparrow Productions has disguised herself among others as her movies consistently rule box office and have won several awards.
‘The Perfect Picture‘, ‘A Sting In A Tale‘ are two of her most popular movies while her most recent movie prior to this new release was 2009′s ‘Checkmate‘ which starred Nadia Buari.
The latest movie from Sparrow Productions, is ’6 Hours to Christmas’, a comedic thriller starring Chris Attoh and Damilola Adegbite. Chris and Damilola are castmates on MNet’s Tinsel and this is their first movie collaboration.
From the synopsis and movie trailer, it appears that this will not be your typical predictable Ghollywood or Nollywood offering.
The Story
It looks like it’s going to be a typical 24th December day for suave creative director, Reggie (Chris Attoh) and perhaps a slightly more memorable one as his girlfriend promises him dinner and fireworks before the stroke of midnight.
Things however take an exciting turn for him when his office colleague and the girl (Damilola Adegbite) he’s lusted after for a long time gives him a Christmas present he finds impossible to refuse.
As Reggie’s mind goes into overdrive, events unfold into very hilarious and yet bizarre circumstances and it seems a day that started with the promise of Christmas may just end in heartbreak and a gun to Reggie’s head.
The movie is set to premiere at the National Theatre in Accra on the 29th of October 2010. We are so proud of Shirley, she had a baby recently and she is still on top of her game. The presentation, packaging and marketing of her movies is always top-notch and is an area other movie makers can learn from. Check out movie stills and the trailer below.

SHIRLEY is really good,i got the priviledge of seeing it during the press screening when i was in Accra.Its a great movie.i feel the trailer doesnt do justice to the movie.the movie is fun and insanely mentally stimulating. It makes you use ur brains throughout.thumbs up shirley

I like her movies, though the Ghanaian focus on showing sexual relations on screen still exists, she does it more tastefully and the sex scenes actually have something to do with the storyline.

Hmmm am still not convinced, am worried it might be another great production but a but lacking in story line, I find a lot of Ghanian movies are like that, not meaning to knock on Ghanian movies, I just need a really strong story line if you have got all the good actors and great production, you might as well give us more. I always feel like am left hanging wanting a but more.
@ Ndy: I feel you sis. Most Ghanian movies are good cinematography-wise but lacking in ‘connecting’ on a storyline level with me. I hope this turns out great….been on hiatus from African movies for a while cos nothing worth my while in a loooong time! Where are Amaka Igwe, Ego Boyo, Lola Fani Kayode etc etc
