OC Ukeje Makes Statement Dressing Feel Effortless #BN20
OC Ukeje, in town for the Lagos premiere of Brazilian-French festival favourite Shine Your Eyes, which previously screened at Berlinale and the Red Sea Film Festival, quite literally shone on the red carpet at the BN20 Grand Red Carpet Experience.
Best known for roles in Nollywood favourite The Arbitration and the Canadian-British series Departure, the actor stepped out in a sharply tailored DÈJÌ ENIOLÁ look. Anchored by a storm-grey jacquard jacket, the look was a reminder of just how much a great fabric can do.
The longline silhouette is a great look for him, but it’s the metallic, almost woodgrain texture that really sells the look. Against the black sleeves and fluid trousers, it gives the whole outfit a richness that feels much more considered than a conventional evening suit.
The deep V neckline and slightly extended proportions keeps things directional and the simple accessories keep the look stripped back. Nothing is competing with the jacket, which is why it works.
There’s a tendency in menswear to equate impact with colour or embellishment, but this is a reminder that texture can be impactful. Possibly more so. The entire look feels sharp, modern and quietly luxurious without ever looking like it is trying too hard.
A masterclass in low-key statement style.
