  • Iris January 16, 2014 at 4:50 pm

Go Lupita! Congratulations to Chiwetel but I’m rooting for Leonardo Di Caprio for this one. This man needs his recognition already. I don’t know who he pissed off on that Academy board.

    • Anon January 17, 2014 at 4:38 am

Touche. Probably one of the men whose wife he has slept with. Rumours have it that that is his fetish

      • Mz Socially Awkward… January 17, 2014 at 11:23 am

LOL!! So that predatory quality he brings to his roles is his real personae coming to the fore? You don’t say…

  • Olah January 16, 2014 at 4:55 pm

Why is Idris Elba not on the best actor’s list for his role in Mandela? I thought he was excellent. ….

    • abi January 16, 2014 at 5:50 pm

  • Grown Woman January 16, 2014 at 8:26 pm

    Go Lupita…..all the best

  • dr gbaks January 16, 2014 at 11:04 pm

I really don’t get what the fuss about ‘American Hustle’ is. And as much as I love J.Law, I want Lupita to win this one.
There’s too much of a striking similarity between Jennifer’s characters in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle for me to want her to win. Lupita, please!

  • SOLO ACT January 16, 2014 at 11:20 pm

lets not get our hopes too high oo! 12 years a slave ONLY WON ONE AWARD at the GOLDEN GLOBES! if JENNIFER LAWRENCE WINS OVER THIS GIRL DONT BE SHOCKED just be disappointed

  • NNENNE January 17, 2014 at 1:22 am

    Best wishes, Chiwetel Ejiofor!!

  • KRO January 17, 2014 at 7:58 am

Sorry, but were’s THE BEST MAN”S HOLIDAY? In as much as i love the actors and actress nominated, “The Oscars” need to start recognizing African American movies as well.

  • Mz Socially Awkward… January 17, 2014 at 11:36 am

So, for the first time in a really long while, I’ll be staying up to watch the Oscars this year… definitely agree with a lot of commenters, the competition in each category is really close.

And, bia, Cineworld. When do you plan to bring the full plethora of these Oscar nominated movies to Abz??

    • Anon January 17, 2014 at 7:32 pm

Better come to London. I’ve booked 2 each back to back for the next two Tuesdays at the Staples Corner one. Tuesdays = discount day! Cheap and cheerful.

      • Mz Socially Awkward… January 18, 2014 at 4:19 pm

Choi, and I’ll actually be in London shortly but for an
exam, so no opportunity for such entertaining distractions….
        :-(

  • Mama Mia!!! January 17, 2014 at 5:01 pm

I’m sorry Chiwetel and Matthew I love both your performances but I think it is high time Leonardo takes home an award. haba, for how long will they continue to starve this guy off his mostly outstanding performances. This Jennifer Lawrence girl, is she really that great of an actress? I’m sorry, but I’m yet to see it, her silver lining playbook performance was just there for me. Jared leto was also superb in his role as well, didn’t know he was part of the band 30 seconds to mars. The award season this year is filled with lots of outstanding performances, really hard to guess this one. Tom hanks, Oprah, Emma Thompson and Idris Elba were the biggest snobs this year but Congrats to every one especially Lupita baby!!!
