The December 2011 issue of Genevieve Magazine is one of their best issues ever!
Weddings by MAI, the bridal label by Ohimai Atafo definitely brought a dollop of major wow factor to the magazine.
While cover girl, Ojy Okpe wore her wedding dress by Luca Orlandi (Yes, the dress she wore on her wedding day!) on the cover of the magazine, inside the magazine, we get to see real brides revisit their wedding dresses including 2 beautiful brides in Weddings by MAI dresses.

Mai Atafo’s work is just tacky and cheap. Bad imitation Mai. Be creative and fooling Nigerians that don’t know anything.

I so totally agree. They are copies, nothing original at all. hot damn! I hope you realize that several other designers have very similar wedding looks. For me, it is more about the technique. With wedding dresses, the range of uniqueness is limited, even the vera wangs and monique lhuilliers of our time have pieces similar to designers of the past. My issue is that his looks are not inspiring. Well sewn et al, but it needs some push. He seems to be playing it very safe, it is obvious he can sew, not he just needs to turn up the volume. MAI, it is perfectly okay to be inspired by a design, but you need to make it your own and have your signature all over it (and I don’t mean the label). Your work looks good, and this is wayyyyyy better that the looks you had in Genevieve last year. If you can step up your game some more, I would definitely be wearing your piece down the aisle in December

i think the beauty of wedding dresses lies in the details as they all come in very similar colours these days. i dont think the pictures were the best as they were unable to provide proper close up details of the dresses and only showed outlines on body shape and all. in all, MAI still remains a brilliant designer but could have done with a better photographer

Some people just have to see everything wrong in the effort others put. @ Fatima, even if you need to be critical, do you have to be so harsh???that’s someone’s hard work you know and you should be constructive in your criticism not destructive. It the finishing on this dresses or the finishing on other dresses you know. cos the dresses here look really nicely finished. Some people said tacky and i still am shocked. Like Joey said guys just seem to have personal beef for the dude.

what does ‘original’ mean sef? there will never be anything new under the earth.. especially in fashion, trends only go and come back.. all in circles. Every designe would ALWAYS at every point in time use some existing designs.. MAI, great work!
